What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter position at Riggs Industries?
Lincoln Contracting & Equipment is looking for a painter who will prepare the surface of an object to be painted. The candidate will be able to prep & paint structural steel and plate work using the Macropoxy paint system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other job-related duties may be assigned in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Take necessary precautions with hazardous materials and fully comply with EPA, OSHA, and NIOSH guidelines.
- Safely & efficiently transports objects into and out of blast and/or paint booths.
- Cleans and prepares surfaces to be painted by removing grease and dirt; and removing rust from metal with blaster, grinder, sandpaper, or wire brushes.
- Applies masking tape or other materials over parts and areas that are not to be coated paying special care to avoid overspray
- Selects and mixes primer and/or paint to produce desired viscosity/color.
- Pour primer and/or paint into the spray gun and connect the gun to an air hose.
- Adjusts spray gun valves and nozzle to regulate the width and pressure of spray.
- Pulls trigger and directs spray onto a work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
- Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with a brush.
- Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
- Replaces screens and filters in paint booths.
- Moves items to be painted into and out of paint booths.
- Cleans paint booths & general work area paint guns, hoses, and nozzles.
- Safely perform duties; wear always required PPE.
