Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities and those in need of assistance in a personal care home or group home setting. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for residents through direct support and care, ensuring their dignity and rights are respected at all times.
Duties
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor residents for any side effects or changes in condition.
- Provide memory care support to residents experiencing cognitive challenges, fostering a safe and engaging environment.
- Uphold resident rights by advocating for their needs and preferences while promoting independence.
- Lift and transfer residents safely using proper techniques to prevent injury to both the resident and yourself.
- Engage residents in social activities that promote interaction, well-being, and enjoyment.
- Document care provided and report any changes in residents’ health or behavior to the appropriate staff members.
- Collaborate with social workers and other healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued.
- Knowledge of resident rights and the importance of advocacy in a care setting.
- Strong understanding of medication administration protocols.
- Familiarity with memory care techniques to assist residents effectively.
- Ability to perform personal care tasks with sensitivity and respect for individual preferences.
- Experience in a personal care home or group home environment is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members.
