Trust Operations Associate – High-Growth Startup

Compensation: $65k-$75k plus bonus
About the Role
Our client, a fast-growing startup in the trust services industry, is seeking a trust operations associate to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven professional who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment and wants to be part of building something from the ground up.
This role offers hands-on experience in trust operations, process improvement, and the ability to directly impact the firm’s growth. The ideal candidate is scrappy, adaptable, collaborative, a self-starter, and energized by problem-solving in a high-growth setting.
This is a full-time, in-person position based in the Greater Reno Area. The role requires a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to pivot quickly as the company scales. The position is five days a week in the office, with long hours as needed to support the firm's expansion.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily trust operations, including cash movement, account reconciliations, and transaction processing.
- Maintain and monitor trust accounts to ensure accuracy, compliance, and regulatory adherence.
- Process distributions, contributions, and account transfers in coordination with internal teams and external custodians.
- Partner with trust officers, accountants, and custodians to resolve operational issues and streamline workflows.
- Monitor account activity for accuracy, risk management, and compliance, escalating issues as needed.
- Manage trust-related records and documentation, ensuring data integrity and proper audit trails.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of trust operations policies, procedures, and system enhancements.
- Participate in system testing, automation projects, and the implementation of operational technology improvements.
- Support new account onboarding, verifying documentation, and ensuring seamless setup.
- Collaborate with compliance and risk management teams to uphold regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in trust operations.
- Understanding of trust structures, account reconciliation, and financial transactions.
- Exceptional organizational skills, analytical mindset, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with trust accounting software is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field preferred.
- Positive, resilient attitude with the ability to pivot and problem-solve in a startup environment.
