As a distinguished non-profit organization, we specialize in delivering top-tier early education across Tippecanoe (Lafayette, West Lafayette), Jasper (Rensselaer, Remington), and Newton (Goodland) Counties, operating more than seven licensed child care centers.
The Early Childhood High School Apprentice will work closely with experienced early childhood educators to gain hands-on experience and practical skills in the field of early childhood education. This role supports the Lead Teacher in providing quality care, continuous supervision, and fostering a positive learning environment for young children. The Apprentice will perform a variety of routine tasks on a daily basis to ensure that licensing, accreditation, and agency standards, policies, and procedures are met and maintained at all times.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Childcare & Supervision:
- Provide quality care & continuous supervision of children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Assist children with self-care activities, including sleep/wake routines, personal cleanliness, bathroom routines, and meal/snack service.
- Curriculum & Lesson Support:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in executing curriculum & lesson plans, engaging children in educational activities that support their development
- Support the compilation & completion of accreditation materials on a daily or as-needed basis
- Classroom Maintenance:
- Ensure the classroom is clean, organized, and well-maintained, including but not limited to:
- Cleaning & sanitizing assigned areas according to schedule
- Emptying wastebaskets and trash cans regularly
- Assisting with the laundering of items for the classroom as needed
- Reporting any need for supplies, equipment, or repairs to the Lead Teacher
- Safe & Orderly Environment:
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure classroom environment, adhering to all safety protocols
- Operate educational equipment, including computers, CD players, Ipads, etc. to support learning environments
- Confidentiality & Professionalism:
- Maintain confidentiality of all staff, child, and family information as required by law and agency policy, exercising appropriate discretion
- Attend regular staff meetings and participate in training sessions as required by licensing, accreditation, and agency policy
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development
- Additional Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the classroom and overall program
- Demonstrate competencies as outlined by the registered apprenticeship
