Job Description:
The Critical Infrastructure support initiative entails the design, installation, customization, testing, and implementation of several enhancements to the Agency's Network, and Data Center infrastructure environments. These infrastructure related updates are crucial for the efficient maintenance and functioning of the network infrastructure, supporting the Network related security controls such as Switches, Firewalls, IDS, IPS, Proxy servers, etc., as well as its security components in the Data Center, Remote sites, as well as external entities (OTI, NYS, etc.)
Mandatory Skill:
Implement conceptual design to physical database implementation, enhance and refine the logical design of the database.
Monitors and manages SQL Servers and databases on a day-to-day basis; develops database designs, stored procedures, triggers, and constraints for new applications in MS SQL Server based on client standards.
Provides day to day advice to users on data structures and terminology and develops policies and procedures related to the support and maintenance of database applications.
Monitor databases for optimal performance and acts to mitigate blocking and performance tuning issues.
Provide guidance to Application Development staff for query, stored procedures, functions, and database design.
Baseline system performance and monitor for deviation, recommending and implementing improvements to slow running queries.
Document database architecture, configuration settings, baseline performance metrics and planned and unplanned outages.
Establishes and implements best practices regarding data definition, data quality, data security, and data integration.
Performs database administration duties, including installation, patching, backup and recovery management, space management, schema management, startup, and shutdown.
