First Mate - Mult-Cat
Summary
Under the Captain’s guidance, the First Mate ensures safe vessel operation, oversees crew activities, and supports navigation and equipment management. The First Mate is second-in-command, responsible for maintaining vessel stability and efficiency.
MMC Mate (Pilot) (Self-Propelled Vessels / Towing Vessels - 300GRT or greater any endorsements e.g. Oceans, Inland Waters, Rivers, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain with voyage planning, navigation, and vessel operations.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to crew members to meet operational goals.
- Conduct regular maintenance and safety checks on vessel systems.
- Maintain accurate logs, project reports, and inventory updates for bridge equipment.
- Facilitate safety meetings, drills, and hazard analyses.
- Prepare required documentation such as port call papers and purchase orders.
Qualifications
- Credentials endorsing mate, pilot, or master roles with proper tonnage and route endorsements.
- Ability to manage multitasking and communicate effectively.
- Physically capable of performing duties such as lifting (30 lbs), climbing, and working in extreme conditions.
- Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
Hours
Rotation 21 days on/21 days off
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $600.00 - $750.00 per hour
