About the Role

The Building Automation Controls Technician is responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining building automation systems (BAS) and direct digital controls (DDC). This role requires a strong understanding of HVAC control systems , excellent technical and communication skills , and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams, subcontractors, and end users.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform point-to-point checkouts , commissioning, diagnostics, and maintenance of building automation systems at new construction and retrofit project sites across Utah .
• Troubleshoot and repair BAS panels , including communications equipment, circuit boards, power supplies, sensors, and transducers .
• Edit and program BAS points , including point naming, alarm settings, and conversion patterns .
• Manage multiple automation installation projects , coordinating with subcontractors, general contractors, and clients to ensure seamless project execution .
• Review contract documents , reconcile with RFIs and project correspondence , and confirm approved scope of work with the Project Manager .
• Supervise subcontractors , prioritize their work, authorize additional work, and document progress and changes .
• Implement energy conservation measures by optimizing existing BAS features .
• Maintain accurate project documentation , including commissioning logs, daily reports, as-built documentation, and project status updates .
• Assist with the training and evaluation of junior technicians .
• Continuously improve personal knowledge of BAS technologies and stay current with industry changes and advancements .
