We are currently seeking an experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to oversee and support our high-precision production operations. This role offers a blend of shop-floor leadership and administrative responsibilities. You’ll be involved in everything from production planning and tooling design to team development and status reporting.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of CNC and manual machinists to achieve production targets.
Coordinate the setup and machining of complex aerospace components using CNC mills and lathes.
Optimize production by reducing cycle times, improving setups, and enhancing quality processes.
Oversee the layout of the shop, manage tooling inventory, and coordinate equipment maintenance.
Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to machinists in industry best practices.
Plan daily workflows, assign tasks, and track team productivity for reporting to leadership.
Participate in daily meetings to communicate production progress and resolve challenges.
Prepare machining time estimates and monitor job timelines for accuracy.
Ensure CNC programs, materials, and tooling are prepared and staged for efficient execution.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proven experience as a machinist with hands-on CNC setup expertise (mills and/or lathes required).
Strong understanding of G-code programming and troubleshooting.
Proficient in reading engineering drawings and interpreting GD&T and aerospace specs.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mill/lathe setup in a production environment.
Experience with 5-axis machines, pallet changers, horizontal mills, or multi-spindle turn centers is a plus.
Familiarity with machining steel, titanium, and high-temperature aerospace alloys.
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is required.
Must be fluent in English and possess excellent communication skills.
High school diploma, GED, or completion of a technical/trade program preferred.
Proficient in the use of precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (Green Card holder) due to ITAR requirements.
Basic computer skills required for communication and reporting tasks.
