Overview

The Consultant will utilize their technical education, experience, and training to support Built Environment Solutions (BES) projects for our property owner, developer, and contractor clients.  

 Essential Job Functions

• Work with the project team to lead commercial, residential, and industrial building design, assessment, and/or construction.
• Work with consultants to actively manage the projects including the budget and client relationships.
• Perform field assessments, including working from ladders, lifts, scaffolds, confined spaces, rooftops, and mechanical, electrical, and fire protection equipment rooms.
• Provides technical expertise within the field of architecture, engineering, construction, or other related field for projects involving assessments, upgrades, maintenance, and restoration of the built environment, as well as components of design related to new construction. 
• Research building codes and standards (historical and current).
• Review/research product submittals, samples, mock-ups, testing reports, data sheets, and warranties.

Required Education and Certifications

• B.S. in architecture, engineering, building science, or other construction-related degree or higher. 
• 0-6 years of experience as professional in the design, assessment, and/or construction of building systems.  Experience includes providing construction documents, construction administrative services, and/or project management of building construction. 
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) designations are a plus.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Hands on proficiency with AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling software. 
• Good report writing skills are required. 
• Must be able to interact and communicate with clients at all levels (e.g. internal and external) and work independently with good judgment and critical thinking skills. 
• Familiarity with general construction principles and processes.

Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel Requirements

Physical Demands – Work is performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e. Client’s office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). Employee is frequently required to stand, walk on slope roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, climb inside attics and crawl under homes and tunnels, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking and interacting with clients, preparing written reports of findings, and testifying in deposition or trial. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.

Overtime – This position is classified as salaried with an exempt FLSA status. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch.  There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.  

Travel Requirements—This position requires up to 30-40% of local or in-state travel. Out-of-area and overnight travel may be required. This person will be reporting to the office in NYC when they are not traveling. 

The salary range for this position is $104,100 - $156,100 and depends on education, experience, location, and certifications/licensure.
