What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drainage Engineer position at RINA North America (formerly Patrick)?
The Drainage Engineer is responsible for performing engineering design that is associated with traditional highway/roadway projects.The technical work may involve hydrology and hydraulic calculations/modeling, completing drainage technical memorandums, Location Drainage Studies, determining pipe sizing, and development of drainage plan and profile sheets.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop in MicroStation drainage plan and profile sheet traditionally associated with roadway reconstruction or rehabilitation projects.
- Identify existing drainage areas and drainage patterns
- Design proposed drainage systems for portions of local roadway, highways or interstates
- Assist in the preparation of drainage studies including existing and proposed drainage plans, hydraulic reports, and Location Drainage Studies
- Assist in the preparation of final engineering plans and specifications for drainage facilities including storm sewers systems, schedules, detention ponds, and water quality facilities
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculation for culvert and storm sewer sizing, including determining the hydraulic grade line and information traditionally included on the Waterway Information Table.
- Coordinate with other engineers and supporting staff during plan development to ensure conformance to standards and code requirements
- Responsible for adherence to quality control policies and procedures
Professional Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related with a focus in hydrology and hydraulics from an accredited university or college
- 2 years of professional drainage study/design work
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT). Professional Engineers License preferred
- Knowledge of MicroStation
- Familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPA SWMM, and OpenDrainage a plus.
- Work experience and knowledge of IDOT drainage design policies and procedures is a plus
- Excellent technical communication skills (oral and written)
- Willingness to learn and invest in professional development
- Self-starter who can work independently or part of a multi-discipline team
Additional Requirements
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to travel regionally for site visits and client meetings

Salary : $80,000 - $110,000
