SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The job description for the Operating Room Supervisor incorporates the Association of PeriOperative Nurse, Registered Nurses' Standards, Guidelines and Recommended Practices (AORN). The Operating Room Supervisor is accountable for daily operations of the operating room as well as managing operating room personnel, and reports to the Director of Nursing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Demonstrates ability to manage a team and coordinate activities efficiently.
2. Strong leadership and communication skills.
3. Knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and infection control.
4. Familiarity with operating room equipment and supplies.
5. Responsible for creating staffing schedules and assignments.
6. Performs actions that demonstrate accountability.
7. Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel.
8. Follows established infection control policies and procedures.
9. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
10. Assigns activity to assistive personnel based on their qualifications and patient's needs.
11. Serves as a clinical resource regarding patient care and clinical documentation in accordance with standards of practice.
12. Serves as a resource for staff in regards to Policies and Procedures of the facility.
13. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in various programs, inservices, workshops and meetings.
14. Maintains competencies to function in the supervisor role within specific area.(Ex. PreOp, OR, and PACU).
15. All other duties as assigned relative to position.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Current licensure in this State as a Registered Nurse.
2. Previous work experience in a surgical setting or operating room.
3. Proof of current BLS training/education.
4. Completion of ACLS and PALS course within three (3) months of date of hire.
5. Competence in oral and written communication.
6. Intermittent and prolonged physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, pulling and pushing of carts, equipment, etc. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist; be able to kneel.
