Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking up to five (5) Marine Debris Technicians to support the NOAA Marine Debris Project (MDMAP) in conducting large-scale shoreline derelict marine debris survey operations. This exciting opportunity will span regions from Point Conception, California, to the San Juan Islands, Washington. As part of the NOAA MDMAP, technicians will engage in field equipment preparation, survey execution, data collection, and reporting, contributing to meaningful environmental work along the West Coast.
This role requires 100% travel across multiple sites, with work spanning the coastline from Point Conception, California, to the San Juan Islands, Washington. Travel schedules will be determined by survey requirements. Employment is as-needed and is planned for approximately April 2025–July 2026 (tentative). While this role may offer flexible work arrangements, including travel-based remote work, employment is seasonal and will require extensive travel.
Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities :
- Conduct large-scale marine debris surveys and data collection
- Conduct surveys using ArcGIS platforms such as Survey123
- Identify and categorize marine debris and benthic habitats using established survey techniques
- Prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot field equipment, including kayaks, safety equipment, and survey tools
- Inspect, inventory, and repair field equipment; assist with purchasing as needed
- Collect, QA / QC, and process data, contributing to the preparation of summary reports for publication and presentation

The base pay for this temporary position is $23.00–$34.00 per hour. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
