Position Description – What The Role Entails
Reporting to the CFO, the Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for the management of accounting activities, including the safeguard of assets, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Accounting Supervisor will lead and manage the accounting team and is ultimately responsible for all related accounting metrics and overall team performance. The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for the design, proper implementation and ongoing improvement of the Accounting Department processes, policies, and procedures to effectively support overall organizational growth. The accounting Supervisor supports the CFO with various functional Finance activities.

Areas Of Accountability - What You Will Be Doing
- Responsible for all facets of the accounting cycle for the non-for-profit entities
- Training and motivating accounting staff members while supervising and delegating department tasks.
- Overseeing the daily activities of the accounting department and ensuring that all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time.
- Ensuring that all accounting processes align with GAAP and current financial legislation.
- Evaluating, developing, and improving department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepares journal entries as required to reflect transactions occurring during accounting period.
- Analyzes and reconciles various general ledger accounts to assure propriety of postings.
- Assisting other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a financial impact on the business.
- Assists in the preparation of monthly financial reports for management and performs associated research and analysis as appropriately.
- Assists in the preparation of external reports for audit, funders and general public, as requested.
- Maintains fixed asset records.
- Assist in the development of cost allocation factors by gathering information and conducting studies as necessary.
- Oversee month-end close activities including processing journal entries and accruals, completing reconciliations, booking fixed and prepaid assets, etc.
- Responsible for compliance and regulatory issues relating to the company's financial activities.
- Lead external fiscal monitoring reviews (excluding the Single Audit)
- Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period.
- Collect financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
- Maintain internal controls and safeguards of assets, including sound financial policies and procedures and financial systems for the organization.
- Support the year-end audits and work with external auditors to ensure clean financial and compliance audits, with an unqualified opinion. Support the accounting team by preparing appropriate audit schedules and providing support to ensure an efficient and timely audit process.
- Support the CFO with managing month end closing process for the accounting team, including processing payroll entries as necessary, and producing monthly (and periodic) income statements, balance sheet and cash flow statements and variance reports to the CFO and internal and external stakeholders.

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in related field (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
- Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles
- Exceptional math skills
- Solid experience managing reporting, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, internal control maintenance, as well as hands-on work in these areas
- Leadership or supervisory experience (nonprofit experience preferred but not required)
- Proven knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and associated laws and regulations
- Experience with charts of accounts
- Must have advanced Excel and accounting software skills, and proficiency in MS Office
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations
Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
