Availability: July 2024
Reports to: CRSS Program Supervisor
Program: New Hope School of Counseling
Salary: $42,000-$46,000
DOL Status: Full-Time
Exemption: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: The CRSS Program Success Coach will support students enrolled in the CRSS/CPRS Certification and Recovery Support Specialist Studies Program at the New Hope School of Counseling. This role involves helping students identify and overcome barriers to their success. The CRSS Program Success Coach will engage students in person-centered, holistic discussions to set goals, solve problems, and create action plans that promote both academic and personal success, ultimately enhancing student retention. This position will also model peer support skills for new students and provide insights to improve the overall CRSS Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide structured academic support and coaching through regular one-on-one meetings with students, at least monthly or as needed.
- Conduct a student needs assessment during each monthly coaching session.
- Assist students in identifying barriers to success and finding resources to address these barriers.
- Assist students in utilizing on-campus and off-campus resources to support their academic and personal growth.
- Design and implement personalized action plans based on student strengths and course requirements, in collaboration with the student.
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, appointments, and barrier reduction requests.
- Review, document, and submit barrier reduction requests as necessary.
- Collaborate with staff to optimize student success strategies.
- Act as the primary advisor for students, ensuring they meet program requirements and receive appropriate mentorship and career development opportunities.
- Participate in professional development activities, including peer support trainings, advisory board meetings, and program meetings when requested.
- Facilitate workshops sessions to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Attend meetings with partner organizations and stakeholders.

- Bilingual English/Spanish language competency strongly preferred.
- Flexibility to instruct in the evening and/or weekend availability
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The CRSS Success Coach must be able to successfully perform essential functions of this job including travel, extensive continuous computer screen time and occasional carrying of objects up to 20lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. There will be occasions for working from multiple sites and traveling between sites will occur.
SPECIAL SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
- Flexible schedule with occasional evening and Saturday commitments.
- Hybrid work arrangement with a significant in person presence at our primary site location, 3720 N. Kedzie Ave Chicago IL 60618.
- Occasional travel within the local Chicago area for community engagements and internship site visits.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- CRSS or other ICB Certification preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment background checks.
- Must be highly motivated, analytical, self-started, creative and detail oriented.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, customer relations and team development skills.
