What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional- Evenings position at Riney-Walden, Inc?
Riney-Walden, Inc. provides care to individuals with developmental disabilities. CPR certified and LIMA preferred, but not necessary. We provide all training, but you must have a diploma/GED, valid driver’s license, insured automobile, pass a background screening and be able to obtain a class E chauffeur’s license and MODOT physical.
This position is for evenings and every other weekend.
Duties and responsibilities
- Have an understanding of and demonstrate respect for the human rights of the people we support.
- Understand and demonstrate the principle of confidentiality at all times.
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Able to exercise good judgment, positive modeling and initiative in providing services and supports to the individuals.
- Assist/support individuals in training programs as specified in their Individual Program Plans and the program activity schedule.
- Provide direct assistance/support to the individuals as needed to perform the tasks of daily living and daily routines such as personal hygiene, dining skills and other associated tasks.
- Facilitate daily activities and routines with the individuals on assigned shift.
- Assist with individual’s mobility as needed for those whose walk is unsteady and/or they rely on a wheelchair.
- Attend and satisfactorily complete all mandatory trainings.
- Complete any and all data collection, MAR s, observation notes and daily reports as instructed
- Access to vehicle in good working order and maintaining current license, registration, and insurance.
- Assess the individual's abilities, interests, changes in health status, etc. on an on-going basis and document/report to the Manager
- Monitor individual s activities and assure all safety and health care practices are observed. Ensure universal precautions are observed.
- Use open, positive, encouraging interactions with the individuals that reflect dignity and respect while promoting their independence, ability to choose, rights and responsibilities.
- Must maintain a good attendance record by reporting to work on time as scheduled
- Possess or acquire through staff training the ability to express and perform job duties that reflect a working knowledge of individual’s rights, abuse and neglect, person-centered services, including personal Support Plans and goals of integrating persons with disabilities into the community
- Maintain positive communications/relationships with the individuals, Support Coordinators, families, friends, fellow employees and other agencies involved with the individuals residing in the home
- Understands and demonstrates the principle of confidentiality at all times.
- Maintains safe body positioning when working with people in any activity
Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License and car insurance.
- Ability to pass a background screening
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to focus and multi-task, be flexible, and maintain composure during crises.
- Ability to exercise good judgement and initiative in providing services and supports to the artists.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Available for Evenings and Every Other Weekend.

Pay: $14.00 - $15.50 per hour
