Project Manager I

Job Purpose

To manage capital projects and provide direction to Plants and field support personnel for mechanical, hydraulic, refrigeration, pneumatic, and electrical systems, as well as, blow-molding and downstream packaging equipment. This is a hands-on, team-player leadership position and the ability to provide servant leadership from corporate is critical to the success of the Technical Services Department.

Key Responsibilities And Duties

This position is self-directed and is responsible for managing the budgets, timelines and performance of capital projects, as well as, providing technical support to all Plants, other departments within Technical Services and Corporate Headquarters. Communication of all project and support activities is a critical responsibility.

Experience And Educational Qualifications

The Engineering Project Manager should have experience in manufacturing engineering and management, preferably in the plastics manufacturing industry. The candidate should possess a strong background and understanding of production, maintenance and engineering aspects as well as strong people skills and managerial maintenance abilities. He/she should exhibit a sense of urgency, accountability, business ethics, professionalism, self-motivation, and the desire and focus to improve the business.

This position requires proficiency in AutoCAD, MS project, and MS Office

This position requires a 4-year degree in mechanical engineering, related science or technical degree. An advanced degree in manufacturing or business is preferred.

Abilities Required

Capital Project Management

• Ensure the adequate management of large AFE’s to ensure correct scope, justifications, and appropriate follow through.
• Provide technical direction for selection and sizing of equipment required for the blow molding operations.
• Provide guidance and direction to ensure Plant projects are consistent with Company directions, goals, new products, budgets, time lines, and R.O.I requirements.
• Ensure AFE justification commitments are fulfilled.
• Audit and verify effectiveness of completed projects.
• Document and communicate all project activities.
  
  

Leadership and Innovation

• Provide leadership to the Company and personnel to drive improved engineering and operational initiatives through reporting procedures and record keeping requirements to ensure compliance, follow-ups and improvements.
• Drive engineering support to reduce costs and increase profit margins.
• Provide support and motivation to the facility personnel to improve operating efficiencies, controls knowledge and troubleshooting abilities.
• Perpetual searching for more efficient implementations in the Plants by using your technical knowledge and creative ideas.
• Provide servant leadership, camaraderie and support to colleagues to enhance teamwork of the organization to achieve common Company goals, as well as, the Technical Services departmental goal to become “The Best in Industry at the Execution of Projects”.
