Job Purpose
This position is responsible for managing, maintaining, and enhancing the financial and accounting systems within the finance organization. This position will be very process focused to enhance existing systems deploy new systems for the purpose of automating manual processes and improving productivity. Performs a variety of accounting activities and special projects focused on the areas of general ledger analysis, reporting, budgets, and transaction processing.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- The Transaction Systems Manager works closely with the financial services team, IT and external vendors to optimize processes, troubleshoot system issues, maintain users, and lead system upgrades or implementations for the systems we are responsible for.
- This role ensures that the accounting software and related systems support the business’s operational needs, regulatory standards and enable efficient processes within them. These systems are Paymode-X – AP Automation, E2Open - Transportation Management System (TMS); Blackline Recons and Task Management System, HighRadius Integrated Receivables and Cash Accounting and LN CE – ERP Financial module & EAM (M&R PO system). These responsibilities primarily include systems on the financial services side of the department, AP, AR, and Cash related systems.
- This role should be able to identify opportunities to optimize transaction processes (AP, AR, other) through system automation. This role will work closely with the Accounting Manager to learn and fully understand the processes for accounts payable initially and then work with Credit Manager to do the same in AR.
- Responsible for balance sheet reconciliations, prepaid expense amortization, analyze spending on contract services, utilities and freight. Monthly reconciliation of EAM open payables report.
- Responsible for the financial aspect of Transportation Management System, making the month end freight accrual, monthly review freight out, freight revenue, interplant freight, outside warehouse freight and inbound freight in tandem with the corporate transportation manager.
- Assists in the month end closing process, reporting and annual budget cycles.
- Assists in the annual financial audits by audit firm.
- Uses Microsoft Excel extensively and efficiently for reporting and reconciliation processes.
- Continually look for opportunities for improvement, in our processes or workflows, utilizing current system functionality, upcoming future enhancements or possible advanced technology that would be new to Ring.
- Responsible for keeping documentation of processes and work instructions for the accounting systems manager responsibilities.
- Provides back up to Accounting Manager and Director of Financial Services as needed for vacations or absences.
- May perform other tasks or projects as assigned by the Financial Services Director.
Experience and Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required with concentration in accounting or finance preferred.
- Must have training and knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft suite.
- Seven years minimum accounting experience.
- Accounting Transaction Automation experience preferred but not required.
