Job Summary:
The Production Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating production schedules, ensuring materials and resources are available for production processes, and meeting production targets. This role works closely with various departments to optimize production efficiency, minimize downtime, and ensure products are delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Scheduling:
Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer orders, forecasted demand, and inventory levels.
- Material Management:
Ensure that raw materials, components, and finished goods are available for production by managing inventory and ordering supplies in a timely manner.
- Workforce Coordination:
Coordinate with the human resources department to ensure the right number of staff members are available for each production shift.
- Production Monitoring:
Track production progress, identify delays, and make adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines and production goals.
- Cost Optimization:
Analyze production costs and work to reduce waste, inefficiencies, and downtime.
- Collaboration:
Work closely with other departments such as procurement, warehouse, quality control, and engineering to ensure smooth production flow.
- Reporting:
Prepare and provide regular reports on production performance, inventory levels, and the status of outstanding orders.
- Problem Solving:
Identify potential production issues or bottlenecks and take corrective actions to minimize disruptions.
- Quality Assurance:
Ensure production processes adhere to quality standards and that the final product meets all specifications.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education:
A bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience:
At least 2-3 years of experience in production planning or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Certification:
APS Certification (Advanced Planning and Scheduling) is required to ensure proficiency in production scheduling and resource management.
- Technical Skills:
Proficient in using Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) software for production scheduling and resource management.
Proficiency with Felios (or similar tools) is a must to effectively manage production processes and workflows.
Strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong Analytical Skills:
Ability to analyze data, forecast production needs, and identify trends.
- Problem-Solving Abilities:
Ability to quickly identify issues and implement solutions to keep production on track.
- Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, suppliers, and senior management.
- Attention to Detail:
Meticulous attention to detail in managing production schedules and inventories.
