What are the responsibilities and job description for the Acute Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position at RINGGOLD COUNTY HOSPITAL?
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider to join our Acute Care team. As a APP in Acute Care, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients with acute medical conditions. Your expertise and dedication will contribute to the overall well-being and recovery of our patients.
Duties:
- To provide emergency department physician coverage as a member of the healthcare team under the terms of contracted duty hours.
- Physically assesses, evaluates and treats all Hospital patients’ conditions with the assistance of supervising physician. Resolves or seeks assistance in resolving issues as needed. Arranges for, or refers patients to, needed services that cannot be provided at the clinic or hospital.
- Contacts supervising physician in accordance with APP Agreement.
- Utilizes the medical process and effective written and verbal communication skills in the provision of safe, effective, high quality medical services consistent with established professional medical standards and Hospital policies and practices.
- Provide open communication and feedback to the rest of the ED staff regarding positive work performance. Provide constructive criticism in a private and compassionate manner when team members may need additional assistance with skill development.
- Consults with physical therapy, occupational therapy, dietitian, and other health professionals to provide appropriate care for each patient.
- Provides professional medical care to patients within the Ringgold County Hospital and any other settings as appropriate.
- Communicates with patients regarding laboratory results, changes in medications, health status and treatment procedures. Responds to calls and concerns in a professional, courteous fashion and resolves issues or seeks assistance in resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Prescribes medications and contacts appropriate pharmacies to refill patient prescriptions. Schedules hospital laboratory tests, x-rays, or procedures and referrals to specialists. Completes appropriate requisition forms for tests as needed.
- Assures appropriate insurance information is provided for proper procedure. Instructs patients in proper preparation for tests as appropriate.
- Provide appropriate discharge instructions and education to those patient deemed safe for discharge to home. Follow-up appointments should be facilitated and prescriptions provided if indicated.
- When appropriate communicate with other physicians involved in the patient’s follow-up care.
- Leads and assists nursing staff in performance of medical services.
- Works with Utilization Review staff to insure appropriate use of clinical resources in relationship to various insurance and clinical criteria.
- Documents care provided and patient response in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with legal requirements, professional medical standards, and Clinic and hospital policies. Completes medical record documentation in a concise, accurate and timely manner with physician supervision. Assures that adequate patient health records are maintained and transferred as required when patients are referred.
- Relates effectively with all members of the health care team for continuity of care.
- Maintains awareness of own safety in carrying out duties and responsibilities. Adheres to universal precautions and infection control policies and procedures.
- If at any time child or elder abuse is suspected, report to the appropriate authorities.
- Keeps professional license current.
- Demonstrates ability to consistently meet the department work schedule.
- Respond to patient’s presenting to the emergency department while on call within a timely fashion (within 30 minutes) of notification.
- Assumes accountability for enhancing own knowledge through professional associations, journals, workshops and in-services. Attends continuing medical education as required to maintain professional license. Cooperates with credentialing.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and uses discretion in patient interactions.
- Maintains awareness of workload of co-workers and offers assistance as needed.
- Responsible for assisting in establishing department policies and procedures
- Assists in the training and supervision of nursing and technical staff
- May be required to participate with the Utilization Review, Quality Improvement, Infection Control, Medical Records, or other Committees

Pay: $54.18 - $58.70 per hour
