Basic Job Responsibilities:
- Organizing of patient records produced by the Laboratory: Monthly, Yearly, Urinalysis; Waived Kit Tests, including Strep A, H pylori, Influenza; Hemoccult.
- Maintain EKG data bank and upgrade patient log.
- Order and maintain prelim and final reports from the reference lab.
- Help maintain inventory.
- Validate test(s) for Medicare patients.
- Obtain additional information for non-covered services from physicians.
- Explain and issue ABN’s for non-covered services.
- Obtain specimens from patients. These include blood, urine, stool, sputum and other body fluids.
- Phlebotomy: Draw and label blood specimens of patients.
- Distribute reports as needed by fax or electronically.
- Obtain specimens for testing from patients. These include blood, urine, stool, sputum and other body fluids. The results which will aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Utilize Hospital/Clinic computer system.
- Perform limited laboratory duties i.e. Dipstick urinalysis, Urine Micro albumin, Strep A, H pylori, Influenza, Urine Pregnancy, Urine Drug Screens.
- Perform controls on waived tests to meet manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Works assigned shift/shifts, weekends and holidays, as scheduled.
- Assist and/or directs patients to various departments.
- Operate various office machines, i.e., fax, copier, computer.
- Performs miscellaneous office duties, scheduling, filing and/or retrieving medical records.
