The Director of Transportation is responsible for overseeing the pupil transportation program, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. This position coordinates with contractors to manage schedules, background clearances, and driver/vehicle compliance.
Main Responsibilities
- Coordinate a transportation program that meets all applicable laws and regulations.
- Work with contractors to ensure schedules are carried out properly and that drivers and vehicles comply with federal, state laws and regulations.
- Prepare routes and update bus schedules for public, non-public, private, homeless, early intervention, and special education schools.
- Communicate with bus drivers, contractors, crossing guards, and school principals regarding transportation changes and assist with school delays and closings.
Requirements
- High school diploma required; 3-5 years' experience with school transportation services preferred.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Advanced computer skills and ability to operate office equipment required.
