Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains low and medium voltage components.
- Perform repair and replacement of electrical installations.
- Maintain, test and calibrate controls, transformers and self-contained electrical meters.
- Clean and maintain power distribution equipment, tools and supplies.
- Maintain wiring, power appliances, light machinery, electrical circuits, electrical motors, generators and other electrical equipment.
- Locate and correct power failures and electrical malfunctions.
- Make emergency electrical repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance to all appropriate electrical systems as required for the preventative maintenance program including the complex server rooms.
- Responsible to ensure that maintenance requirements for electrical and mechanical systems are initiated for all new equipment and are up to date and correct for existing equipment.
- Assists in coordinating and training workloads for assigned employees in a timely manner.
- Ensures adherence to all applicable federal, state and local laws for the position, as well as all Ringling College of Art and Design regulations, guidelines, processes and standard operating procedures (SOP's).
- Maintain and adhere to all certifications and safety requirements to enter restricted areas as stated by the set guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Possess skills on electrical systems including, but not limited to, the following: building, installing, testing, adapting and performing preventive maintenance on complex electronic and electrical components and ensuring that all components adhere to national and state codes.
- Proficient in using various computer programs including and/or equivalent to Microsoft Office suites and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Possess a working knowledge of preventative maintenance in areas such as complex electronic and electrical components.
- Able to make emergency electrical repairs; use various electrical meters & construct and install power supplies.
- Ability to examine blueprints for correct electrical wiring and determination of proper load limits.
- Ability to understand and interpret standard safety procedures.
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices as laid out in the NFPA 70-E standard for electrical safety in the workplace.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with requirements of the National Electric Code (NEC).
- Ability to receive and execute work instructions efficiently and accurately.
- This job may require the need to be on call and or work overtime as circumstances dictate.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the campus community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an Electrician Program at an accredited Trade School (NCCER Level 4 Electrical certification or equivalent), or equivalent experience and certifications.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License.
- Licensed as an electrician in the State of Florida.
- Appropriate license to maintain and repair fire alarm systems.
