Full-Time Faculty Appointment with Benefits
The Film Department at Ringling College of Art and Design combines the power of film as a storytelling medium with the flexibility of the latest digital technology. Filmmaking is taught employing digital tools within a range of pre-production, production and post-production courses. Students learn the theoretical, aesthetic and practical aspects of the field in an environment that puts the story at the center of the filmmaking process. Successful candidates should be passionate about teaching courses in a collaborative environment.
The Film Department at the Ringling College of Art and Design is seeking qualified candidates who are broadly trained filmmakers with the ability to teach upper level cinematography. Included among the Duties and Responsibilities of this position are: Ability to teach Cinematography, Advanced Film Seminar (Cinematography), as well as Junior Film Productions, Senior Thesis Productions, Film Language, and Introduction to Filmmaking when needed. Knowledge and experience in post-production color timing and/or editing would be a plus.
This is a full-time appointment with benefits. The salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The anticipated start date is August 2025. The teaching responsibility is three courses or nine credits per semester. The College has a supportive, collegial faculty, a curriculum that strongly values excellence and a robust support system dedicated to using the most current technology. Ongoing commitment to creative work/scholarship in the profession is expected and active participation with faculty, department and college service is required.

(Minimum Qualifications) Include evidence of:

Education And Experience
(Minimum Qualifications) Include evidence of:
- A Master’s degree in film/television production or related field, with a strong record of professional achievement in the field, OR a 4-year professional degree and a record of professional achievement in the field.
- An extensive cinematography background in the film and/or television industry as a director of photography, gaffer, grip, camera operator, assistant camera, and/or post production colorist.
- Skill in at least two of the following additional disciplines: screenwriting, directing, producing, editing, sound, or production design.
- An ability to clearly communicate and work effectively in a collaborative educational environment with faculty, students and administrators.
- Awareness of both current and evolving issues facing the field and strategies to best address them.
- An MFA or other terminal degree in an appropriate field.
- Cinematography teaching experience.
- A broad range of professional experiences, including any of the following: director of photography, directing, camera department, G & E, art department, producing, post-production, color science.
- Knowledge of and proficiency with high end digital cinema gear, including cameras, lenses, lights, dollies, Steadicam, and grip equipment. Experience using LUTS and post-production color correction methods, including Davinci Resolve.
- Knowledge of production and post-production digital workflow processes: on set DIT, post production color correction and DCP.
- Interest in emerging production technologies, particularly virtual production using LED walls and Unreal Engine. Experience with or willingness to learn real-time cinematography workflows.
