Summary
The Loan Servicing Specialist will provide high quality loan servicing as an extension of our branches, lending, and other internal departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.
- Always demonstrate a positive member service focus. Maintain a professional and friendly manner when contacting members, co-workers, and guests. Consistent usage of the members name during contact and always thanking them for their business.
- Directly works with members as needed to develop strong relationships and ensure continued financial partnerships.
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist co-workers and members with all requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform related follow-up tasks to assure problem resolution and member satisfaction.
- Performs all MVD related tasks
- Performs tasks associated with indirect loan processing and funding internally and externally through third party vendors
- Performs tasks associated with CU Sol/CU SAFE loan processing and funding internally and externally through CU Lending Edge
- Completes loan funding quality control reviews for consumer direct and indirect loans funded, either internally or through a third-party vendor
- Continue to develop a strong knowledge of regulations, procedures, and compliance as it applies to member service and loans including BSA, Red Flags, UDAAP, Lending Policies, and Lending Matrixes.
- Perform a percentage of quality reviews on the accuracy of consumer and indirect loans funded
- Performs functions necessary relative to loan servicing which includes mortgage, consumer lending, commercial/busines/construction, and indirect lending.
- Verify accuracy of loan documents, disburses loans as authorized and/or directed and performs file maintenance duties as required for indirect loans, either internally or through a third party
- Perform file maintenance on accounts as related to member service activities, such as but not limited to payroll deductions and EFTs.
- Maintain knowledge of and can successfully handle various products such as, but not limited to, indirect loan applications, title work, MMP and GAP policies, and debt cancellation.
- Serves as a point of contact and subject matter expert with staff from all branches and other departments as needed and ensures account-monitoring standards are provided.
- Troubleshoots and/or escalates complex issues to supervisor/manager or appropriate business owners, while exercising independent judgement and decision-making
- Actively participates in credit union-wide projects and/or committees.
- Recommend process improvements where fit
- Work in conjunction with management to minimize findings from various internal and external quality control, auditors, and examiners.
- Knowledge of Credit Union security procedures; immediately notifies supervisor/manager of any irregularities.
- Dispose of obsolete files in accordance with established retention schedule or legal requirements.
- Report all suspicious activity to the BSA Officer or the BSA Specialist
- Other duties as assigned by department supervisor and manager, Senior Management, and President/CEO

Education and/or Experience
Experience - 6 months to 2 years related experience
Education - 2-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study OR 2 years related experience
Language Skills
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals such as Standard Operating Manuals (SOPs). Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general public. Must be able to read and write using the English language.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, amortizations, proportions, percentages, cash flow, net present values, and depreciation. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and arithmetic.
