- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer science or related discipline; AND
- Two (2) years of experience working in the field of information technology services or related field; WITH
- One (1) year of experience working in a lead role within an IT services education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.
2. Implements department policy changes, policy modifications, special assignments, goals, and objectives. E
3. Evaluates and analyzes employee performance to mitigate and address performance issues for assigned staff; works with administrator/manager and Human Resources (HR) to address employee issues and/or concerns; makes and follows disciplinary recommendations in alignment with the employee group’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) in partnership with HR. E
4. Participates in the District’s recruitment and selection committee processes in the recommendation and hiring of department staff; assists with onboarding and training of staff. E
5. Assigns and apportions work amongst classified staff, short-term, and temporary staff. E
6. Receives, reviews, and approves/denies requests for time off from assigned staff. E
7. Tracks and monitors assigned budgets; assists administrator or manager with budget planning, development, and administration. E
8. Ensures that the operations of the department functions or responsibilities comply with organizational policies and state and federal regulations. E
9. Assesses the operations related to the area of assignment; assists the supervising manager in determining whether or not long- and short-term goals have been accomplished; reviews missed opportunities and makes recommendations to address identified shortcomings. E
10. Plans, develops, and implements projects; ensures the on-time completion of projects. E
11. Performs technical code reviews of the front and back end to ensure that applications comply with District standards. E
12. Maintains constant communication with campus staff regarding established cases, issues, or concerns; resolves problems during the program/application development process. E
13. Evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures to identify problems and implement improvements. E
14. Develops innovative ways to integrate systems and offers recommendations on emerging technologies that can be introduced and integrated into District operations. E
15. Provides guidance and technical advice on District software selections to inform technological acquisition decisions. E
16. Ensures the completion of projects by providing development support for critical activities, as necessary. E
17. Meets end users to establish application needs; recommends future enhancements or new systems that will meet District needs. E
18. Enables end users to fully utilize all services and capabilities of administrative systems and resolve problems. E
19. Develops technical documentation to document information including but not limited to, which applications operate specific servers. E
20. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of the department’s day-to-day activities and/or operations including but not limited to greets and directs visitors, answers phone calls, responds to callers, and directs incoming phone calls; opens, screens, and distributes mail and correspondence; photocopies documents and requests duplication services; ensures maintenance and repairs of assigned work areas, facilities, or equipment; enters various requests for services from IT, Facilities, and Maintenance; contacts vendors for equipment service, when needed; follows-up with vendors to ensure satisfactory completion or requests; may perform simple repairs or maintenance standard office equipment. - Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
- May be required to travel for various off-site meetings, trainings, conferences, and or events in support of the overall objective of the position.
- Master’s degree. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working in the field of information technology services.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
While performing the duties of this class, incumbents are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data; use math and mathematical reasoning; analyze and solve problems; learn and apply new information and skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; and interact with District, students, vendors and others encountered in the course of work, some of whom are dissatisfied or abusive.
