What are the responsibilities and job description for the Banquet Houseperson position at Rio Las Vegas?
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Banquet Houseperson you will play a vital role on the team and ensure an exceptional guest experience by correctly setting up meetings and events according to event order specifications and diagrams. You will be actively looking in public and back of house space for opportunities to keep our space clean, organized and presentable at all times. You will make every effort to assist Rio Leadership, Convention Guests, and/or fellow Team Members when reasonable assistance is asked of our team.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Accurately Setup and maintain meetings and banquet functions according to BEO/MEO specifications.
- Move and store all furniture and equipment needed for setting up and breaking down convention center related functions.
- Break down and clean areas after functions have ended, remove linen and trash, return any equipment used to its designated space.
- Possess thorough knowledge of functions listed on BEO/MEOs
- Refresh meeting spaces during meeting break times, refilling waters, picking up trash off tables, straightening chairs, making the room presentable for the next meeting session.
- Maintain proper care of Convention Center Inventory.
- Maintain proper care of Convention center Airwalls.
- Maintain and keep a clean and organized warehouse, hallways, and linen room.
- Properly clean and maintain equipment (vacuums, sweepers, pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.)
- Move Boxes and/or Materials for Clients when requested.
- Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Must be able to interpret and apply technical instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Must possess good listening skills.
- Must be able to apply commonsense understanding to a variety of situations including room sets, turnovers and future room sets.
- Must have a great attention to detail.

REQUIREMENTS
Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
- At least 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent degree (GED) required.
- A strong attention to detail and visual capabilities needed to inspect work upon completion to avoid leaving deficient work.
- The physical ability to push, pull, and lift various furniture items such as staging, dance floors, tables and chairs.
- Ability to safely operate motorized equipment including a forklift.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance according to schedule.
PREFERRED
- Minimum 1 year banquet/catering experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines.
- Must regularly lift and/move up to 50 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
- The physical ability to use both hands for continuous grasping.
- Able to work in an environment with fumes and airborne particles.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Most work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment and exposed to various environmental factors such as but not limited to noise, dust and smoke.
- There will be instances where work will be performed outside at our pool and parking lot location.
