Job Description: Electric Panel Assembler
Position Overview:
The Electric Panel Assembler is responsible for assembling, wiring, and testing electrical control panels according to engineering specifications, wiring diagrams, and company standards. This role ensures the panels are built efficiently, accurately, and safely, meeting both customer requirements and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Panel Assembly:
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to assemble control panels.
- Install electrical components such as PLCs, relays, contactors, terminal blocks, and wiring into enclosures.
- Label components and wires for identification and troubleshooting.
2. Wiring and Connections:
- Perform precise wiring and connection of electrical components according to provided diagrams.
- Strip, crimp, and terminate wires accurately.
- Ensure wiring is neat, organized, and meets safety standards
3. Testing and Inspection:
- Conduct continuity and functional tests to verify proper assembly and wiring.
- Identify and resolve wiring errors or component issues during testing.
- Perform quality checks to ensure panels meet specifications and standards.
4. Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures while working with electrical components.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., UL, IEC, or NEC).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
- Record test results and update assembly documentation.
- Report any issues or deviations to supervisors or engineering teams.
- Suggest improvements for panel assembly processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electrical systems is preferred.
- Proven experience in electrical panel assembly or related field.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Familiarity with tools and equipment such as wire strippers, crimpers, screwdrivers, and multimeters.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards and practices.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and ability to handle small components and tools.
Work Environment:
- Typically works in a manufacturing or workshop environment.
