Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $1,500–$1,700 per week, open to negotiation
- Starting Bonus: No signing bonus offered
- Relocation Assistance: Travel stipend included
- Shift: Full-time, onsite with rotating days off (typically weekends)
- Benefits Package:
- Room and board (private room with AC)
- All meals provided from June 16 to August 9

Job Summary
The Summer Season Head Nurse is responsible for managing health operations and ensuring the well-being of all campers and staff. This role involves working in a 3-bed infirmary, handling daily medical needs, administering medication, and responding to emergencies. The nurse collaborates with the camp’s leadership and local healthcare providers to deliver effective, compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee health and sanitation standards across campus
- Maintain confidential medical records and daily medical log
- Conduct initial camper screenings and ongoing health surveillance
- Respond to medical emergencies and administer first aid/CPR
- Dispense prescription and OTC medications
- Communicate health needs and protocols to staff, faculty, and parents
- Coordinate with local hospitals, doctors, and pharmacies
- Transport and accompany campers or staff for off-site medical care
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of infirmary and medical supplies
- Monitor and manage communicable disease risks
Minimum Requirements
- Current NY State RN or LPN license (or eligible for licensure)
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification
- Ability to live onsite and be on-call 24/7 as needed
- Experience working with ages 10–30
- Strong clinical assessment skills
- Previous camp or school nursing experience
- Friendly and calm demeanor with strong communication skills
- Team player who works well under pressure
- Wilderness First Aid certification (a plus)
