Position Overview:
Reporting to the Vice President of Program Management, the Portfolio Project Manager will coordinate cross-functional efforts including generating, driving, and reporting on schedules, budgets, and risks/mitigations associated with projects which enable progression of our preclinical and human clinical programs, our veterinary clinical programs, and our therapeutic platform initiatives.
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented individual to lead the planning, coordination, execution, and reporting of critical projects in our growing portfolio. As a key contributor, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with company goals.
While corporate headquarters is based in Rochester, MN the current PM team members reside near the Boston area, and there is an expectation of in-person team interaction in or around Boston on a semi-frequent basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage timelines of projects associated with portfolio programs and initiatives to support achieving overall goals of the company
- Own and drive cross-functional team performance to accomplish deliverables for the assigned project(s)
- Drive critical decisions within the team; identify, coordinate, and communicate adjustments as necessary
- Drive issue identification and resolution, risk management and contingency planning
- Create a positive team environment that instills trust, ensures clear and transparent communication, and promotes alignment on the priorities and objectives of the project
- Communicate status of programs and initiatives to leadership; maintain transparency with respect to risks to timeline, budget, resources, etc. to enable efficient decision-making, and appropriately communicate/escalate as necessary
Project Planning & Execution:
- Define project objectives, deliverables, and success metrics in collaboration with stakeholders
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budget and resource needs
- Track project progress and provide transparency to stakeholders
- With Project team members, identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies; monitor and report on program/project risks, issues, and changes in scope
- Escalate critical challenges and propose actionable solutions
Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Facilitate regular project meetings to ensure alignment and address challenges
- Promote effective communication and collaboration across teams; coordinate and communicate adjustments as needed to meet dynamic priorities
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders, including project status, risks, and key milestones
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise reports and presentations to leadership
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or relevant medicine/human disease/pharmaceutical development related field.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of program/project management experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry -or- 1-3 years of program/project management experience and 3-5 years of experience in biotech Development, Manufacturing, Quality, or Regulatory disciplines.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced startup or similar environment.
- In-depth knowledge of drug development process, and familiarity with CMC, Preclinical, Clinical, and Regulatory workflows is highly desirable
- Experience in program/project management best practices, familiarity with project management tools and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience in timeline management, risk management, and budget/resource management
