SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Pipe Layer. A Tailman will be involved in the general installation of the pipes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but is not limited to the following:
Assists with the installation and repairs of storm, sanitation and/or water structures and pipelines systems
Assists with the lay out pipe routes, following the pipe layer’s lead
Climb in and out via ladder of trenches up to 15 feet deep
Cut pipes to required lengths with gas powered saw
Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction
Align an position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing
Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers
Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue
Assists with tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices
Cover pipes with earth or other materials
Arrive at job site and all office meetings on time.
Perform all job tasks with integrity, along with treating clients and co-workers with respect.
Have an ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Maintain compliance in regard to all safety procedures, equipment operating procedures, company operating procedures, etc.
Have the ability to work well in group problem solving situations.
Respond promptly to requests for service and assistance.
Follow all Ripa policies and procedures along with, completing assigned tasked correct and on time. If completion of an assignment cannot be met on time notify crew foreman immediately.
Safely work around a ditch and trench box.
Mix concrete/cement.
Operate hand tools as required by the project.
Assist in utility testing.
Assist in the cleaning of tools, equipment and work areas.
Performs other duties as assigned
