Your Career

Our global internship program trains the next-generation of cybersecurity talent across a range of specializations, from threat intelligence to information security, engineering and marketing. Interns and recent graduates can learn about publishing high-quality, groundbreaking cybersecurity research as part of Unit 42, the threat intelligence and incident response arm of Palo Alto Networks.

The Unit 42 Threat Intelligence External Engagement Team is responsible for communicating about threat intelligence research insights both internally to Palo Alto Networks and externally to the cybersecurity community. As an intern for the team, you will have the opportunity to work in a cross-functional role that puts you in touch with leading threat intelligence researchers, marketing and communications experts, and security consultants, gaining contact with a broad selection of threat intelligence-related roles.

You will be the first intern ever on our team and get to have a major impact on how our external-facing website is designed by helping to build and launch a new opinion-focused section on our Threat Research Center.

Our Summer Internship Program from May-August or June-September provides you:

  • Connections to other recent grads, and employees across the company as well as our leaders

Your Impact

  • Work with the team’s Sr. Production Editor to design and launch a section of the Unit 42 Threat Research Center for short opinion pieces from threat intelligence and incident response experts, which will augment our threat research articles.
  • Work with Creative and Web service teams to produce page design elements.
  • Work with the External Engagement team to create the look and feel of the new section.
  • Partner with corporate social team leaders to advertise launch of new section.
  • Create parameters and guidelines for opinion section workflow.
  • Gather content for the section by working with PANW threat intelligence experts.
  • Build an initial calendar for content.

Your Experience

  • Have an interest in publishing impactful cybersecurity research and making it useful and relevant to various audiences.
  • Have an interest in helping researchers improve the clarity and reach of their writing.
  • Willing to learn about different formats for communicating research and excited to share creative ideas.
  • Willing to develop project management skills.
  • Have an interest in website design, UX/UI or a related subject area.
  • Cross-disciplinary background/interest - perhaps you are a researcher who is interested in communication or a communicator who loves all things technical.
  • Proven ability to learn processes and technologies quickly, adapt to changing needs and communicate clearly and proactively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Requirements – To apply, you must be pursuing a 4-year Undergraduate Degree with a GPA of 3.0 or above, a 2-year Master’s Degree or a Doctorate degree and returning to school in the fall. You must have the authorization to work within the United States.

The compensation offered for this position will depend on year in school, qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be $30/hr.
