What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Basic Education Instructor position at RIRAL?
Rhode Island Regional Adult Learning (RIRAL) is a private nonprofit adult education agency established in 1979 and designated by the Rhode Island Department of Education as a regional learning center. Its mission is to help adults reach their academic, occupational, or personal goals through education, counseling, and training. Adult students enroll in RIRAL programs to improve their reading, writing, math, and English language skills to achieve long-term goals such as finding or retaining employment, obtaining a high school credential, or going to college.
RIRAL’s students are at varying stages of the (ABC) Career Continuum. Some are looking for (A) job; others a (B)etter job; and still others a (C)areer. To meet these needs, RIRAL provides a menu of adult education services to more than 500 students annually. These include Digital Literacy, Adult Basic Education, High School Credentialing (GED and NEDP), English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and Transition to College. We support our academic programs with case management, career readiness and counseling, and connections to next-step partners for employment and training.
We are recruiting for our Parenting in Progress class. This class serves women with children. This is a blended learning class where the instructor will provide traditional face-to-face activities and integrate digital learning. The class schedule is Monday, through Thursday from 10 – 1 pm. The class is located at the YWCA in Woonsocket where case management and onsite day care are available.
The instructor is responsible for filling in any academic gaps in writing and reading and for preparing students to pass GED test or enter into the National External Diploma Program (NEDP).
