What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Teacher position at Rise Academy Fountain Inn?
Overview
We are a micro-school in Fountain Inn. We started out 3 years ago when my cousin’s and my kid were ready for school but we did not want to go the public route. But we wanted to give our kids the “school” experience. We started out as a 2 grade year system (K4/K5 - K5/1 - 1/2) so next year would be 2nd/3rd, though the kids will mainly be at a 2nd grade level.
Our school days are Monday - Thursday 9-2. We try to have 1 field trip a month, though that’s not required for all students or the teacher.
The schoolhouse is on around 30 acres with woods, a pond and plenty of space and ways to incorporate nature into lessons. Our goal is to not have the kids sitting at the desk for long days. Also while incorporating our faith and life skills into their lessons.
Currently we have 5 kids. We’ve said we would allow up to 8 so long as that doesn’t take away from the individualized learning for the current students.
The pay rate that we use is $150 weekly per kid. So currently with 5 kids that equals out to $750 weekly. Field trips are an additional $25 for the day when they’re on a non-school day. If more kids join then the pay would increase by $150 per kid weekly. Parents pay the teacher directly in the payment form you prefer and we do not handle any taxes.
