JOB PURPOSE
The Community Off-Site Direct Support Professional (DSP) I provides high-quality, person-centered support to individuals with disabilities in community-based settings. The role focuses on fostering independence, ensuring safety, promoting community integration, and supporting individuals in daily activities.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct care support and supervision during community outings.
- Assist with daily activities such as shopping, recreational outings, and social events.
- Promote and encourage individual independence.
- Follow support plans and behavior strategies.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals during community activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports.
All other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and any subsequent background check after employment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a Missouri Class E chauffeur’s license within 14 days of hire.
- Successfully complete employment-related training as directed.
- Strong empathy and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication for interactions with individuals, families, and the community.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to occasionally lift or assist in lifting individuals with mobility challenges (up to 50 lbs).
- Frequent walking, standing, and physical activity during community outings.
- Ability to transport individuals safely and adhere to all driving policies.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
