Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing project drawings, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work and project requirements
- Perform takeoffs to quantify materials needed for a given project using digital takeoff software
- Analyzing and quantifying the materials, labor, and equipment needed for each project
- Obtaining and evaluating quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
- Collaborating with the project team to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions
- Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates and proposals for submission to clients
- Participating in bid meetings with clients and subcontractors
- Maintaining accurate records of project estimates, bids, and related documentation
- Keeping abreast of industry trends, pricing, and market conditions to ensure competitive and accurate estimates
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is Preferred though not required
- 3-5 years of experience as an Estimator (we will consider the right individuals with more or less experience than indicated)
- Structural Steel experience preferred though not mandatory
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
- Strong knowledge of structural steel materials, fabrication, and installation processes
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in estimating software and standard productivity software
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in estimating and construction
