The RISE Group, Inc. is seeking a Lead Residential Inspector to conduct in-home quality assurance inspections of subcontracted work for customers of the RI Energy program. The position will supervise QA inspectors and be a technical and process resource to Inspectors. Inspectors visit residences at the start, during and/or upon completion of work, with follow-up visits as needed to ensure customer satisfaction. This position will be based out of the Cranston, RI office.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor Inspectors production and quality
- Work with RISE staff to create and implement process and technical improvements to improve productivity, quality and consistency of the inspection work delivered
- A lead resource providing support for technical issues, building science, program standards for inspectors, office staff and field staff
- Highly proficient in diagnostic tests and equipment (blower door and combustion safety tests, infrared scans) and can train inspectors and field staff
- Coordinate and deliver technical discussions at inspectors’ meetings and occasionally auditor meetings
- Compile best practice examples and lead technical discussions at contractor quarterly meetings
- Participate in the onboarding meetings of new contractors
- Train, direct and maintain good working relationships with contractor installation crews
- Diagnose and troubleshoot installation questions/issues with crews via a contractor hotline
- Interact with homeowners effectively and diplomatically during site visits and when issues arise
- Ability to work with customers and resolve complex customer service concerns about work quality
- Prepare inspection reports documenting findings, including digital photos of any problems/discrepancies, complete change orders, and contractor evaluation surveys
- Maintain a high level of communication with the RISE office, homeowners, contractors, and building code officials in a clear, professional and timely manner
- With company support, obtain and maintain BPI certifications along with OSHA and Lead-Safe certifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least five years of building construction/remodeling experience, including knowledge of carpentry, electrical or mechanical systems.
- Experience interacting with customers and contractors.
- Interpersonal skills, including the ability to tactfully avoid conflict and build mutual respect.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills.
- A commitment to and enthusiasm for energy efficiency.
- Proficiency with Windows-based computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid driver’s license, clean driving record and the ability to travel daily to customers’ homes.
- Physically able to fulfill job functions, including lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying and climbing step ladders, entering attics, basements and crawlspaces, and using small tools and installation equipment.
- Able to pass criminal background and drug screening tests.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience installing insulation and air sealing.
- Building construction/remodeling supervisory experience.
- BPI Building Analyst Technician or Professional certification.
- Construction Supervisor License.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time 40-hour position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Travel: Travel throughout Rhode Island on a daily basis.
Work Environment: This job operates indoors and outdoors. Position will entail frequent exposure to various conditions with exposure to any or all of the following: Heat, Cold, Heights, Dust, Dirt, Indoor, Outdoors, and Confined Areas.
