Position Summary
The Child Care Director will oversee the daily operations of our center, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children, families, and staff. This role includes managing staff, maintaining compliance with licensing regulations, fostering positive family relationships, and driving enrollment and community engagement initiatives.
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30AM - 5:00PM
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management: Recruit, train, and mentor staff while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Must be flexible and willing to assist in both the classroom and kitchen as needed to support the staff.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with state regulations and internal policies.
- Curriculum Oversight: Implement and oversee developmentally appropriate programs that align with the center’s mission.
- Financial Management: Responsible for financial management, including tuition collection.
- Family Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with families, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
- Health & Safety: Uphold health, safety, and security standards across all aspects of the center.
Qualifications
Required— Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education.
Must have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university to include fifteen (15) college credits in early childhood education with 3 credits from each of the following areas:
- Child development/learning
- Environment/curriculum
- Social-emotional development
- Observation/assessment
- Early childhood elective
*Must have a minimum of twelve (12) months experience (to include 1,000 hours) experience working with children ages birth through second grade in a group setting.
*Must be 21 years of age or older.
*All staff must complete health screenings, and undergo background checks for FBI and State criminal histories in addition to child abuse and neglect clearances.
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in child care administration or management.
- Strong knowledge of child care licensing regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Passion for early childhood education and a commitment to quality care.
The ideal candidate will possess a professional and friendly demeanor, with the ability to warmly greet families upon arrival and maintain positive body language. They should be capable of effectively managing conflict between staff members, handling hiring and termination processes with confidence, and responding to phone inquiries. Additionally, the candidate must be comfortable conducting tours for prospective families. The ideal candidate will also be reliable, flexible, and genuinely committed to showing up for the children, families, and team.
