What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shelter staff - on call position at Rise?

Come join our team at Rise's domestic violence shelter! This is an exciting position where no two days are the same and you can directly impact survivors' lives.
This position is for a staff member to fill in for scheduled vacation and unscheduled sick time for regular staff members as well as to conduct interviews/pre admissions with incoming shelter residents on an as needed basis. The number of hours per week will vary, based on the applicant's availability and can range from 10-40 hrs/week. Most hours will be scheduled while others will come up as needed.
The responsibilities are basic facility maintenance for Rise's residential building (staffed 24 hours a day) where services are provided to domestic violence clients. The position also has responsibility for some direct resident services such as: check-in and discharge, orientation, basic crisis intervention, assistance with daily living activities, monitoring and assigning chores to residents, etc. The position has daily and continuous contact with shelter residents in the course of performing its required duties and tasks. The maintenance work includes housekeeping, minor maintenance, inventory maintenance, and kitchen and meal management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: The position requires a high school diploma or a G.E.D. Courses related to child care and/or human services are preferred.
Knowledge: Sub Staff must have knowledge of standard housekeeping practices including familiarity with cleaning materials and equipment. A basic understanding of domestic violence must also be demonstrated in order to be successful in this position. All staff are expected to be sensitive to issues of cultural differences in our clientele.
Experience: One year of verifiable work experience with a human service agency where there was regular contact with clients is required or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience where the following skills and abilities are evident.
Additional Qualifications: A valid New York State driver’s license and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle (van) is necessary. Must be dependable. Must not have any indications for child abuse or neglect.
