ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the Director of Youth and Family Programs and VP of Education, the Associate Director of Youth Services is responsible for the effective supervision and innovative implementation of the Youth Center’s portfolio of youth programs. Additionally, the Associate Director provides support in strategic planning, program development, oversight, budget development, and execution and is responsible for providing high level support to the Division’s youth programming in all areas including compliance, quality evaluation and assessment, innovation and organizational adherence. Specific responsibilities include:
Program Oversight
- Programmatic and contractual leadership of RiseBoro’s Youth Center based Youth Programs
- Ensure all contractual mandates are met
- Oversee high quality, safe, and inclusive youth development programs that incorporate RiseBoro’s mission, vision, and positioning
- Develop and oversee implementation of curriculum that supports youth’s developmental, social, and academic needs; meets contractual requirements; is fun and engaging; and supports family engagement
- Responsible for supervision, operation, programming, and evaluation of after-school, educational, recreational, and summer camp programming and staff. Coverage areas include program planning, program development and implementation, curriculum development and implementation, coaching, training, assessment and evaluation and team building
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
- Uphold RiseBoro policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.
- Complete all local, state, and federal documentation as needed for various funding sources
- Establish positive rapport with youth, parents, volunteers and school personnel
- Oversee organization of special and culminating events, including showcases that highlight student achievement and culturally enriching field trips
- Ensure all program data is properly recorded and reported in appropriate database systems
- Ensure that all required evaluations, surveys and or assessments are administered and completed in a timely fashion.
- Maintain regular communication with supervisor pertaining to all agency, program, contract, and site related matters.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Programs Operations
- Provide leadership and direction during program design, planning and implementation in order to contribute to programs’ success
- Work with supervisor on proposal writing efforts to secure funding and additional resources for Education Division programs
- With assistance of program staff, make recommendations for corrective action and training to address areas of improvement.
- Identify collaboration both internally and externally to implement strategy and maximize impact
- Represent RiseBoro during meetings, conferences, and public forums as needed
- Develop and maintain relationships with key partners that bring resources to the organization
- In partnership with leadership and data analysts, create reporting dashboards to demonstrate program outcomes and impact
- Work in collaboration with Program Directors to create and promote collaborative engagement and high performing teams
- Meet with funders as determined by VP
- In collaboration with Director of Operations, ensure program site complies with respective funding source program regulations and other regulatory authorities including the New York City Department of Health, the NYC Department of Education, and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services
- Develop guidelines to provide structure and guidance to programs and staff
Staff Management
- With appropriate staff, recruit, hire, supervise and develop program staff.
- Support Program Directors and Coordinators in the daily functioning of their programs as well as crucial decision making
- Provide oversight, training, evaluation and guidance to youth programming staff leading to their embracement of RiseBoro’s mission and youth development principles and practices contributing toward a safe, motivating, and respectful environment.
- Implement regular planning, training, and staff development sessions with staff
- Responsible for preparing/reviewing timesheets on a bi-weekly basis and submitting them to the payroll department for processing.
Finance
- Assist in preparing annual program budgets and any necessary budget modifications
- Ensure for proper use of funds and spend down
COMPETENCIES
- Demonstrated supervisory experience with youth/community program administration required
- Ability to aim beyond program mandates and expectations for the overall benefit of the program and clients served
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability in program outreach and recruitment, budgeting, performance-based contracting and compliance with SACC licensing procedures
- Demonstrated excellent relationship management skills to advance program goals and objectives in a youth development setting
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, program planning, organizational, verbal, and written skills
- Proficiency with various computer software programs and willingness to learn new ones
- Knowledge of and adherence to the Department of Health, Department of Education, NYS OCFS, and/or NYC DYCD guidelines and polices and their impact on RiseBoro’s programs
- Ability to maintain calm during tense situations and negotiations with a strong ability to create consensus
- Proven ability to energize, motivate and engage staff
- Ability to complete NYS School Age Child Care (SACC regulations) coursework for site supervisors
- Ability to multitask and meet set deadlines
- Experience in managing teams
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree required in Education, Psychology, Sociology or related field
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory and management experience and three (3) years of total experience administering youth or community programs

Salary : $76,000 - $82,000
