Department: Psychiatry – Medication Management
Type of Job: Part-Time (Independent Contractor)
Schedule Details: Monday – Friday; 10:00 am to 4:00 PM
Hours per week: 14 – 32 hrs (Minimum of 14 hours required, 7 hours in person)
Type of Service: Hybrid (in-person and telehealth)

Responsibilities
At RiseUp Health Group, our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) play a vital role in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered mental health care in an outpatient setting to patients across the lifespan. As an independent provider, the PMHNP collaborates with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic and individualized treatment.
In this role, the PMHNP will conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnose mental health conditions, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe appropriate pharmacological treatments, and provide psychoeducation to patients and families. Additionally, the PMHNP will integrate traditional psychiatry, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), or a combination of both to align with the patient’s preferred treatment approach.
Job Duties
- Deliver exceptional, individualized mental health services to patients across their lifespans with a strong commitment to excellence.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations independently, performing age-appropriate histories and mental health assessments while demonstrating autonomy and accountability.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for psychiatric disorders, including effective medication management, brief psychotherapy interventions, and informed referrals.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities (Active DEA Schedules II-V required)
- Order and interpreter necessary laboratory and diagnostic tests based on patients’ needs and age.
- Continuously monitor treatment effectiveness to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team members to enhance patient care and reduce comorbidities and hospitalizations.
- Engage in strategic referrals and effective record sharing with external providers.
- Accurately complete all clinical forms as needed, including patient care letters and FMLA documentation.
- Ensure timely closure of patient encounters according to RUHG Records Completion Guidelines.
- Respond promptly to patient messages as outlined in the RUHG Telephone/Web Encounter Policy.
- Facilitate smooth patient transitions between healthcare settings by following practice procedures and accurately completing documentation. This includes transfers to hospitals, emergency rooms or urgent care, as well as Baker Act .
- Rigorously adhere to RUHG policies and procedures, safeguarding assets and fostering a secure work environment.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing (Mental Health Track)
Certification and Licensing:
- Valid State of Florida APRN License
- Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- DEA License
Experience: 1 year of relevant experience is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply
