What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peer Counselor position at RiseWell Community Services?
RiseWell Community Services is looking for a full-time Peer Counselor for the Community Residence in Glen Cove & Massapequa (Multiple positions available)
Qualifications
Personal or shared experience with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues. Ability and desire to assist others in mastery of independent living skills and the personal recovery process . Understanding of peer support, self-help philosophy. Clean, valid NY State Driver’s License. Fingerprinting, criminal record check, approval from NYS Office of Mental Health.
Core & Essential Responsibility
To provide a positive role model of community functioning, informal counseling, peer support and ADL training in a licensed residential program providing transitional housing to people with psychiatric disabilities.
REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Residential Services
Salary: $16 Hourly
