Job Summary

An Administrative Assistant to a Childcare Director plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of a childcare center. This position involves a blend of administrative tasks, staff coordination, and direct interaction with children and parents.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Admin Support: Assist director with clerical duties, including word processing, filing, and managing correspondence. This encompasses tasks such as, billing, maintaining records, and ordering supplies.
  • Staff Coordination: Support the recruitment, training, and supervision of childcare staff. Ensure that all team members adhere to the center's policies and procedures.
  • Parent and Child Interaction: Maintain open communication with parents, addressing their concerns and providing updates on their children's progress. Assist in planning and executing educational activities that promote child development.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the center complies with state licensing and accreditation requirements, as well as health and safety regulations. This includes maintaining up to date child and staff records and ensuring all neccessary documentation is complete.
  • Facility Management: Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visitors. This may involve coordinating maintenance activities and ensuring the availability of necessary supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: An Associate's or bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Child Development, or a related field is often preferred.
  • Experience: Must have prior experience in administrative role within a childcare or educational setting is advantageous. Familiarity with early childhood education principles and practices is beneficial.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong Leadership skills.
  • Data entry and file management.
  • Proficiency in office software.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while prioritizing responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships within the team.
