Position: Special Education Resource Teacher
Primary Responsibilities
- Implement specialized instruction for students with diverse learning needs.
- Implement evidence-based interventions for reading, writing, and math.
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction in specific academic areas.
- Collect and analyze data to inform instructional decisions.
- Create modified curriculum materials based on student IEPs.
- Conduct academic assessments to identify student strengths and needs.
- Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
- Maintain accurate special education files and records.
- Track accommodation and modification implementation.
Additional Responsibilities
- Establish proactive communication and engage actively with colleagues.
- Administer curriculum-based measurements and standardized tests.
- Co-plan lessons with classroom teachers as appropriate.
- Ensure accommodations are being implemented in the classroom
- Provide consultation on differentiation strategies for diverse learners.
- Support implementation of universal design for learning principles.
- Model effective instructional techniques for students with learning differences.
- Implement positive behavior support strategies.
- Teach self-regulation and social skills.
- Complete required progress reports and other paperwork.
- Participate in student support team meetings.
- Attend grade-level and department meetings.
- Contribute to professional learning communities.
- Collaborate with related service providers (speech therapists, occupational therapists).
- Consult with school administrators regarding student needs.
- Share resources and strategies with colleagues.
- Attend relevant workshops and trainings.
- Develop schedules for student services.
- Manage paraprofessionals working in the resource setting.
- Organize and maintain instructional materials and assistive technology.
- Advocate for student needs within the school system.
- Educate staff about disability awareness and inclusion.
- Promote student self-advocacy skills.
- Ensure appropriate accommodations during standardized testing.
- Participate in RTI/MTSS implementation.
- Provide tier 2 and tier 3 interventions.
- Support screening and progress monitoring systems.
- Analyze intervention data to determine effectiveness.
- Create specialized materials for student use.
- Develop visual supports and organizational tools.
- Curate assistive technology resources.
- Design accessible learning activities.
