The Service Desk Desktop Support Specialist will provide hands-on, in-person technical support for all desktop, laptop, and end-user technology needs within a dynamic financial services and private equity environment. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues, ensuring seamless operations for a high-performing, security-conscious workforce. The position is fully onsite, requiring presence in the office five days a week in the Houston TX Theater District.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide deskside and remote support for desktops, laptops, virtual desktops (VM/VDI), mobile devices, and peripherals.
- Install, configure, and upgrade hardware and software, including standard imaging of Windows and Mac devices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with financial and trading applications, including Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and other market data platforms.
- Support Microsoft Office 365, Teams, VPN, MDM, and other enterprise applications.
- Maintain and administer user accounts, security permissions, and group policies.
- Document incidents, service requests, resolutions, and maintain accurate records in the help desk system.
- Assist with onboarding/offboarding, including setup and decommissioning of user devices.
- Provide video conference room and print support as needed.
- Participate in patch management, vulnerability remediation, and system maintenance activities.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Manage and execute the deployment of new desktops, laptops, and software applications, ensuring seamless transitions for end-users.
- Demonstrable experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) for desktop automation.
- Experience with desktop deployment tools and methodologies (e.g., Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Intune).
- Solid understanding of patch management processes and tools (e.g., WSUS, SCCM, third-party patching solutions).
- Experience with endpoint security solutions (e.g., antivirus, anti-malware, EDR) and security best practices.
- Collaborate with IT Engineering and Cybersecurity teams to ensure security, compliance, and integration of technology solutions, particularly those relevant to private equity and financial services.
Qualifications
- 4 years of experience in desktop or technical support, preferably within financial services, banking, or private equity environments.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, hardware troubleshooting, and standard imaging/deployment tools.
- Familiarity with financial/trading applications (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv) is highly preferred.
- Experience supporting SaaS platforms, Microsoft Office 365, and enterprise collaboration tools.
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and compliance requirements relevant to financial institutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple tickets in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent technical certifications preferred.
Work Environment
- This is a fully onsite, in-house position requiring presence in the office five days per week.
- Occasional after-hours or weekend support may be required for critical incidents or system upgrades.
Note: Candidates with direct experience in financial services or private equity will be given strong preference.
Salary : $90,000 - $100,000
