Dock Supervisor

This position supervises dock operations.

Requirements

Education: High School Diploma; Associates Degree, Bachelors preferred, or equivalent work experience, must be able to read, write, and do basic math; forklift certification preferred.

License: Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to fifty pounds.
• Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions.
• Ability and strength to operate a computer keyboard, copy machine, printer, fax machines, and telephone.

Responsibilities

• Strip and load pedal and line haul trucks in a timely, safe, and cost efficient manner.
• Ensure hazardless materials are loaded properly, secured, correctly documented, and all trailers containing Haz-Mat are properly placarded.
• All freight hauled properly and loads secure for safe claims free movement.
• Distribute travel copies of bills and close out manifests.
• Prepare delivery receipts.
• Utilize effective supervision skills.
• Utilize effective communication skills.
• Process daily mail.
• Customer service.

• Communicate and enforce all company rules, policies and procedures.
• Learn and adhere to all applicable company rules, policies and procedures.
• Interact with all customers both internal and external in a cooperative friendly manner.
• Enthusiastically support all company quality and safety improvement efforts.
• Properly report and handle all HM incidents, releases and spills.
• Retain all contributory workers.
• Train, develop and correct behavior of Freight Handlers.
• Supervise the loading and unloading of line haul trailers in a timely safe and cost effective manner.
• Investigate all OS&D issues that arise.
• Ensure HM loaded properly, secured in trailer and correctly documented.
• Ensure trailers are correctly placarded when HM is on board.
• Ensure freight is loaded correctly for damage free movement.
• Ensure all freight is handled and counted correctly to achieve zero loss and damage.
• Plan and execute effective loading of city peddles to achieve optimum efficiency.
• All office personnel must be reliable, must report for duty on time, and must be available for overtime when required.
• All office personnel must keep management informed.
• All office personnel must maintain a good working relationship with customers, vendors, co-workers, and management.
• Learn and adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
