Job Summary:
The Shift Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting the Superintendent to oversee daily operations, ensuring quality control and maintaining productivity in the workplace. This position assists with managing a team, coordinating tasks, resolving issues, and guaranteeing adherence to all safety and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in organizing, training, and directing department employees to achieve maximum efficiency while carrying out management instructions and policies.
- Coordinates production, distribution, and warehousing in accordance with established procedures.
- Helps develop and implement plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
- Determines work procedures, resolves problems, and expedites workflow.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations and company policies; initiates corrective actions on quality, safety, and production issues within their department.
- Monitors work processes and recommends improvements where necessary.
- Covers plant safety and training activities in cooperation with other departments.
- Assists the Supervisor in tracking employee performance, productivity, and quality metrics.
- Evaluates customer specifications for compliance.
- Supports scheduling, timekeeping, payroll management, and conflict resolution.
- Maintains inventory of materials and parts needed for production.
- Ensures teams collaborate to meet defined targets and goals.
Requirements:
- 3-6 years of experience in the corrugated industry (desired)
- College degree or equivalent; 3-6 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent English reading, analysis, and interpretation skills
- Strong employee relations and communication skills
- Able to present information effectively and respond to questions from various stakeholders
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Able to understand measuring tools and lift up to 25 lbs as required
- Able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods
