What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Handler/Receiver position at Ritchie Engineering?
SUMMARY :
Responsible for safely picking and supplying raw materials to production and returning unused raw materials to appropriate locations. Works closely with management from Production Departments to ensure efficient use and coordination of materials. Makes decisions based on production requests and resolves problems. Supports traffic and warehouse processes such as receiving material, unloading deliveries and stock transfers. Is proficient in the use of a forklift, hand truck, and other machinery. Utilizes physical stamina and skills in organizing, sorting and categorizing merchandise, to maximize the efficiency of the warehouse.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following :
- Determines future kitting requirements by working closely with production managers / department supervisors.
- Unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages. Able to receive and process all defective parts returned for replacement or credit.
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming shipments.
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Proper operation of equipment to safety and productivity requirements, including but not limited to Lift truck or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas.
- Fulfills frequent department request for materials via move tickets sent to computer / tablet.
- Distribute production materials to designated locations on assembly lines observing the first-in-first-out (FIFO) inventory control practice.
- Pull and stage materials for upcoming line / production
- Return materials to warehouse locations at the end of production builds and line changeovers.
- Stage full pallet quantities as required.
- Housekeeping duties throughout the production and warehouse area.
- Must be able to obtain forklift certification.
- Participate in cycle counting activities on occasion.
Qualifications :
Education : Proficiency in reading and writing English is required.
