What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rittal Production System (RPS) Lean Coordinator position at Rittal North America LLC?
Primary Activities/Duties:
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective and sustainable RPS program at Rittal USA.
- Lead the implementation of Lean transformation journey for Rittal USA, in alignment in RPS program
- Lead Gemba’s, implement standards workshops, streamline flows, implement kaizen
- Lead Value Stream workshops, documenting outcomes to facilitate process improvement initiatives
- Deliver more complex re-engineering & simplification / standardization / optimization of identified cross-functional processes as directed
- Active participation in development of Continuous Improvement Transformation Culture through active involvement in a variety of workshops, forums & training sessions related to LEAN & other Process Excellence concepts & practices
- Implement Change Management related to LEAN implementations
- Understanding & facilitating change in a challenging & dynamic environment – handling challenge from senior stakeholders, push back from business-as-usual teams & a lack of understanding/appreciation of the benefits of LEAN
- Teach the fundamentals of Lean principles in both the shop floor and office environments.
- Collaborate with Management to plan and evaluate workflow to more effectively and efficiently meet operational requirements; understands and deploys appropriate process and improvement tools to support those efforts.
- Lead, coach, and facilitate improvement for project teams resulting in measurable business and financial impact.
- Analyze RPS team performance and actively work with all departments to drive root cause analysis and form corrective action plans.
- Provide regular updates to management on current working practices and improvement opportunities, sharing innovations to improve RPS team performance.
- Ensure Rittal is consistently meeting and exceeding the required Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) project target monthly.
- Collaborate with leadership as necessary to identify best possible alternatives and make commitments to carry out decisions.
- Work collectively with Rittal Germany to drive new Lean projects and ensure the sustainment of such initiatives.
- Clearly establish project goals and objectives and effectively track to project timelines.
- Drive and support daily 6S activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently throughout the work shift. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds to waist level; frequently lift 25 – 50 pounds to waist level and up to 25 pounds above the shoulders.
Mental Requirements:
Must be a self-starter that is able to organize and report daily activities. Must also be able to work in a fast paced environment, adapt to assignment changes easily, ability to multi-task, learn office procedures and learn and use new software. Must be detail oriented; communicate effectively via oral and written communications with all levels of employees, vendors and customers.
Safety Requirements:
Wear safety-toed footwear, safety glasses with side shields, protective gloves, hearing protection and additional personal protective equipment where required.
Direction & Decision Making:
Must be able to think independently and make (or recommend) decisions, utilizing experience and technical knowledge. Complete directives either given verbally or written.
Relationship:
Direct Contacts: Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Total Productive Maintenance Coordinator, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Design Engineers, Managers, Supervisors, Team Leaders, and shop floor personnel.
Indirect Contacts: All other departments throughout the plant.
Knowledge & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
7 to 10 years of professional experience driving large, cross-functional LEAN & continuous improvement initiatives with demonstrable business results
Previous experience in a Lean Manufacturing or Toyota Production System environment
Lean Certification preferable
Six sigma black belt preferable
Strong facilitation skills in managing senior stakeholder relationship, partnership & interactions
Strong team building, interpersonal and communications skills
Ability to analyze technical data
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook
