POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The primary function of this position is to provide support, resource referrals, non-judgmental listening, and shared experiences of hope and recovery to callers. The Warmline is a confidential, consumer-run telephone service and is perfect for those just needing someone to talk to who understands what they are going through.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Participate in in-service programs at the Recovery Center to improve knowledge and skills
Attend The Nord Center Orientation and Emergency Stabilization Service's mandatory trainings and certification
Timely and thorough documentation
Conduct Customer Satisfaction Surveys
Follow-up with consumers requesting outreach calls
Attend all staffing / support meetings for the Warmline
Consult with departmental leadership team regularly
Immediately connect individuals in crisis situations to Emergency Stabilization Services
Maintain confidentiality
Requirements :
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
In order to perform the essential functions of this job, after an orientation period, the employee must possess the following : a working knowledge of Nord Center Policy and Procedures, including sensitivity and adherence to clients’ rights, confidentiality, and health and safety issues.
Must exhibit sensitivity to different cultures.
Must be able to work independently and handle confidential material discretely.
In addition, the employee must be able to interface with other departments within the center.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Almost all time is spent in an office environment.
The employee will be required to sit for extended periods and will spend much of his / her time using a telephone and working on a computer.
Must be able to bend, stoop, walk, and lift and push minimal loads at various times.
The employee should have close vision ability and excellent language and speaking skills.
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
The Warmline Peer Support Specialist must be at least 2 years in recovery with mental illness, certified as a Peer Specialist and willing to work from a position of lived experience.
The individual must be familiar with and adhere to recovery principles and demonstrate the ability to support others in emotional situations.
Must have high ethical standards and boundaries.
Must also be available to work evenings and weekends.
