What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Counselor position at River Academy of Excellence?
River Academy of Excellence is a private academic school, providing services to students in grades K-8. We are committed to providing innovative, individualized, and empowering education to meet the unique needs of each and every student. The Academy is hiring a part-time and/or full-time Mental Health Counselor to join our dedicated team of individuals! This position would include the addition of clinic work at River Therapies, seeing clients from the community. Your role would be to provide mental health counseling services, either 1:1 or group sessions, to students and potentially clients from the community.
As a member of our River Academy of Excellence team, you will work with other therapeutic staff, teachers, family members, school district personnel, and report to our administration staff.

What You Will Do
- provide counseling services (1:1 or group therapy services) to students and clients
- complete daily documentation
- provide oversight and direction to our counseling team
- maintain communication with families and staff for the betterment of each student
- regular meetings with administration staff to discuss caseloads, answer questions, and promote overall employment success
- promote a safe and welcoming therapeutic environment for students and families
Our ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of relevant experience and the following credentials/skills:
- LSW, LPC, LCPC, or LMHC
- licensed in Pennsylvania with the ability to bill medical insurance
- experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder and challenging behaviors
- excellent communication skills
- professional and positive work ethic
- Interns will be considered. Supervision will be provided.
